3rd Grade Self Portrait Start

When my third graders arrive to Art Class they are each given a small mirror and a sheet of paper.

Students start off with a mirror and 6 minutes to draw a self portrait the best they can.

Some students are happy with what they created and some not so much. 

Either way they are just days away from completing the 

most realistic self portrait of their life (to this point).

We spend a lot time learning about the correct placement of facial features and proportion.

Created some  awesome expressive backgrounds

At the end we get to compare and it’s a whole lot of fun to guess who’s who.
